Inside a Private Luxury Maternity Photoshoot

Most maternity photography follows a familiar script: a studio, a backdrop, an hour on the clock. A private commission follows a different one. This is what actually happens when a London client books a session: from the first conversation to the moment the finished artwork arrives.

It begins with a conversation, not a booking

A private commission does not start with a calendar link. It starts with a consultation by call, in which we talk about the portrait before anything else: the mood you are drawn to, the story this image should hold, where it will live in your home.

Practical matters follow naturally from there: the week of your pregnancy, the setting, the outfits, the hair and make up, the palette.

By the end of that conversation, the session already exists as an idea.

Everything after is execution.

The setting: a professional studio in Chelsea, London

London sessions take place in selected private studio in Chelsea, reserved exclusively for the session. For clients who prefer it, the session can also be composed at home.

The day itself: you arrive, everything else is ready

On the day, the gowns selected from our Studio archive collection are already steamed and waiting in for you. Styling is done on site. The sequence of the session has been planned in advance, which is precisely what makes the hours feel unhurried.

Sessions are private in the full sense: the photographer, the studio assistant, the celebrity hair and makeup artist, you, and whoever you choose to bring. Partners, small pets, and older children are welcome for part of the session if you wish. Some clients want a family frame within the maternity portrait, others prefer the session to be entirely their own. Both are right.

Discretion is absolute. A significant part of our ultra high-end clientele cannot appear online in our portfolio, and the same protocols apply to every commission: no image is shown, shared or published without consent, ever.

After: the reveal and the artwork

Some weeks after the session, you attend a private reveal, in person or remotely, where the final selection is presented as it will look finished.

From there, the images become physical objects: fine art prints and albums crafted in Italy, hand-finished, made to outlast every device they could have been stored on.

This is the quiet philosophy of the entire experience. A maternity portrait is not just content. It is the first photograph of your family's next chapter, and it deserves to be made, and kept, accordingly.

A note on timing for London

Our team works between Milan and London, and London sessions are concentrated in seasonal windows. If you are expecting and considering a portrait, the ideal moment to enquire is early in the second trimester — the session itself will take place between weeks 27 and 34.
